Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 45 - 490 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: northern Hokkaido, Japan to the northern Sea of Japan, the Okhotsk and Bering seas, to Gulf of Alaska (Ref. 559). Reported from South Korea (Ref. 77001).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 61-66; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 47-50. Dorsal side of head with numerous dermal cirri; scales on body not extending forward beyond origin of dorsal fin; anterior chin with a pair of small cirri (Ref. 559).
Biology:  Found in soft bottoms at depths of 45 - 490 meters; usually on outer continental shelf and upper slope (Ref. 51666).
