Family:  Atherinopsidae (Neotropical silversides), subfamily: Menidiinae
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Baja California, Mexico and the Revillagigedo Island to Puerto Utria, Colombia, including the Gulf of California (Ref. 36497).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-13; Anal spines: 0-1; Anal soft rays: 23-31; Vertebrae: 37-41. Branchiostegal rays: 6 (Ref. 36497).
Biology:  Forms small schools in shallow bays and near coastal reefs (Ref. 9273). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36497). Eggs are presumably attached to spawning substrate via adhesive filaments (Ref. 36497).
