Family:  Bothidae (Lefteye flounders)
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 200 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania round the Cape to Natal, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 96-103; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 73-82. Small indistinct dark spots and markings on median fins, eyed side of body, head and pelvic fins (Ref. 4417).
Biology:  Found on mud (Ref. 2683), sand and shell bottoms (Ref. 27121).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 22 April 2014 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
