Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Bathymyrinae
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 732 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: southern Portugal to Angola, including the Mediterranean. Western Atlantic: North Carolina, USA and northern Gulf of Mexico to northern South America (Ref. 7251). Nortwest Atlantic: Canada.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on the shelf, littoral, burrowing in galleries on sandy mud bottoms. Carnivorous. (Ref. 6521).
