Family:  Pentanchidae (Deepwater catsharks)
Max. size:  42 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: known only from the type locality, the South China Sea (possibly off the Chinese coast). Presence in the Western Central Pacific is uncertain (Ref. 11146).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Known only from the holotype which was found at 537 m depth. Length is from an immature specimen, might reach at least 50 cm TL. Oviparous (Ref. 50449).

Threat to humans:  harmless
