Comments: Type locality of the holotype of Nothobranchius ugandensis: 'Southern Uganda: temporary pool at right side of the road Tororo to Jinja, 1 km west of Busesa, 7 km east of Iganga' (Ref. 26661). Known from drainage systems of Lake Albert and Lake Kioga (Ref. 26661, 59344, 97257), and Lake Victoria (Ref. 59344, 97257). Also Ref. 27139.

Found in temporary water bodies: swamps, roadside and drainage ditches, pools and depressions downstream of culverts; in turbid to very turbid water; usually no aquatic vegetation present, only some grasses and reeds may be found near the banks (Ref. 26661). Bottom spawner, 4 months incubation (Ref. 27139). Young can reach sexual maturity in 6 or 7 weeks (Ref. 59344).
