Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal spines (total): 6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26 - 30; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 26 - 28. This species differs from its congeners in having D VI; acute head, without rostral projection or tuberosity in adults; bony plates of caudal peduncle 2; relatively large eye (6.3-7.2% SL); median body depth, 2.8-2.9 in SL; teeth on upper jaw 100-120, on lower jaw 90-110; uniformly brownish body color; relatively small adult size which might not exceed 350 mm SL; and a different genome structure (Ref. 87782).
This species feeds on benthic crustaceans and bivalves, indicating that this fish feeds on marine organisms living on the sea floor. Caught by bottom gill-net and hook and line at 70-80 m depth (Ref. 87782).
