Characterized by greyish body color; sides with 8-10 brown bars, two bars below anterior and posterior parts of second dorsal fin darker than other; yellowish narrow interspace between dark bars; head with bluish or whitish spots; margin of first dorsal fin between first and third spines with blackish spot; united pelvic fins, presence of frenum; longitudinal scale series 85; head without scales; greatest depth of body 5.1-5.4 in SL; lanceolate caudal fin, longer than head (Ref. 90102).
Inhabits silty inshore reefs in 2-10 m (Ref 90102).
