Comments: Type locality, Lake Kutubu, mouth of Soro river. Not commonly seen at the other locations around the lake. Most commonly seen around the mouth of the Soro river over beds of the matted algae Nitella pseudoflabellata and the eel-grass Valisneria natans. Often seen sharing the same habitat with M. kutubuensis, M. vitta, M. variegata and M. spilota (Ref. 36923).

Espinhos dorsais (total) : 8 - 11; Raios dorsais moles (total) : 12 - 13; Espinhos anais: 1; Raios anais moles: 12 - 13; Vértebras: 31 - 32. An overall pale grey coloration with dusky fins, with a distinctly spatulate 'duck-billed' snout. It is distinguished from Mogurnda fulva in having a shorter head, narrower interorbital, less steep mouth and a longer caudal fin (Ref. 36923).
