Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 0; Afterflossenstacheln 0. Shorter pectoral fins than other Micronesian Kaupichthys.
Occurs in seaward and lagoon reefs to a depth of at least 43 m in areas of mixed coral and sand. Also found in reef crevices in about 6-45 m (Ref 90102).
