Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 0; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 26 - 35; Taggstrålar i analfenan: 0; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 39 - 45. Characterized by long narrow chin which looks like that of a horse. The head narrows from the gills to the snout. Interorbital space narrow (head length/width of interorbital space 9.5-17.5). Eyes situated dorsally. LS/body depth 6.3-7.9. Color uniformly dark.
