Espinas dorsales (total) : 3; Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 7; Espinas anales: 3; Radios blandos anales: 5. Distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: lack of Gambetta's pigmentation pattern; sexual dimorphism color pattern consisting of 17-20 irregular blotches on the dorsum in male and 13 oval blotches on the dorsum and the blotches extending trangle-shape on the dorsolateral sides in females; 11-13 irregular vertical elongated v-shaped blotches along midlateral lines, and between them more then 20 vertical bars in males and less than 20 in females; dorsal and caudal fins with 4-5 striations; one slender and long finger-shaped lamina circularis at the base of the secondary ray of the male pectoral fins, the second ray is elongated nearly filamentous; scales large, vertical elongated and oval, with a large focal area, 26-30 radial grooves; mental lobes undeveloped, two lower lip pointed not ending in filiform tip; barbels short, barble length equal to or shorter than eye diameter; suborbital spine of the prcessus latero-caudalis less than one-third of the processus medio-caudalis length (Ref. 93349).
