Remarks 'Redside', i.e., with red flanks, alluding to the broad stripe of orange to crimson from the operculum to the anal below the dark lateral band of male specimens of this species (Ref. 1998); 'bream', i.e., term applied to freshwater cyprinid fishes (p. 176 in Ref. 11978).
