Remarks 'bellow', i.e., to make the loud deep hollow sound characteristic of a bull from Middle English 'belwen', from Old English 'bylgian' akin to Old English & Old High German 'bellan', i.e., 'to roar' (Ref. 27888). Name not listed in ASFIS version 2006 (Ref. 56807).
