Distribution Indo-Pacific: widely distributed; Madagascar and the Maldives to Hawaii and Easter Island; north to Japan; south to Australia
Quote Collected from the Maldives, southern Japan, including the Ryukyu Islands, and Fiji and oceanic islands in the Pacific Ocean (Johnston Atoll, Marshall Island, Phoenix Islands, French Polynesia, Pitcairn Islands, and Easter Island). The species has also been recorded from Madagascar, northeastern Australia, and the Hawaiian Islands.
