Dorsal
soft rays
(total): 10;
Anal
soft rays: 14 - 16;
Vertebrae: 35. Bryconamericus pinnavittatus is distinguisged from all congeners, except B. bolivianus, B. cismontanus, B. deuterodonoides, B. grosvenori, B. hyphesson, B. lambari, B. macrophthalmus, B. ornaticeps, B. patriciae, B. rubropictus, B. tenuis, and B. thomasi, by having 11-13 branched anal-fin rays (vs. 15 or more). It can be diagnosed from B. bolivianus, B. deuterodonoides, B. grosvenori, B. hyphesson, B. lambari, B. ornaticeps, B. patriciae, B. rubropictus, B. tenuis, and B. thomasi by having two maxillary teeth (vs. three or more), from B. cismontanus by having four outer premaxillary teeth (vs. 5 or 6), and from B. macrophthalmus by having 34-38 perforated lateral-line scales (vs. 40-41) (Ref. 99308).
