Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Inhabits pools and deeper flowing stretches of larger tributary streams and mainstreams. Feeds on detritus and small organisms, usually taken from the bottom. Breeds in summer. Fry and juveniles form large shoals, adults occur in small groups. Due to the development of towns, agriculture and industry, the habitat of the species has been destroyed. Populations have also been eliminated by introduced predatory fishes (Ref. 7248).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.9   ±0.33 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (tmax=6).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
