Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 17; Vertebrae: 29. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by the following characters: a unique pigmentation pattern, with four large, rounded, orangish-olive saddles dorsally on its flank, each with a large distinct dorsomedial white spot completely enclosed within the saddles, resembling wheels; a much smaller fifth saddle on the caudal peduncle with only a small white dorsomedial spot; below the lateral midline there are 10 discrete broad, dark orangish-olive oval vertical bars; the soft dorsal fin with a single row of dark spots; the caudal fin is lined dorsally and ventrally with stripes of yellowish-olive pigmentation extending the length of the fin; caudal-fin base with two prominent dark brown to black spots (Ref. 129142).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00692 (0.00311 - 0.01538), b=3.06 (2.88 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
