Africa: mainly found on the Arabian Peninsula (Saudi Arabia and Yemen), but also in south-eastern Eritrea, south-eastern Ethiopia, and possibly also in Somalia (Ref. 58532). Reports from the Nile River basin, including Lake Tana, of specimens with a small mental disc, are misidentifications of other species (Ref. 96382). Its presence in Chad basin (Ref. 2940, 81282), where it is indicated as Garra cf. quadrimaculata, is not confirmed (Ref. 58532).

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 8. Diagnosis: Garra quadrimaculata is distinguished from African congeners by the following combination of features: well developed papillate disc; fully scaled predorsum, chest, belly and postpelvic regions; vent positioned very close to anal fin; and long intestine (Ref. 58532).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00759 (0.00331 - 0.01740), b=3.05 (2.88 - 3.22), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
