Diagnosis

With 1/2 14 - 15/1/7 - 8 1/2 scales in transverse line between dorsal and pelvic fins, 13 1/2 between lateral line and ventral mid-line, 33-37 predorsal ones, no barbels, groove posterior to lower lip interrupted in the middle; last simple dorsal and anal rays not denticulated, body silvery with a black longitudinal band along lateral line, wider in the posterior part of the body, pharyngeal teeth 4.4 - 4.4 (Ref. 37832). Eyes large and convex, located higher; interorbital space flat; snout projected; upper lip thick; length behind head far longer than length of snout (Ref. 45536).
