Comments: | Considered a nuisance species and considered as a bottom competitor to the brackish water shrimp Penaeus merguiensis in culture ponds (Ref. 6301). Well established from 1950 to 1960 but has now almost disappeared due to a spontaneous decline in population (Ref. 1739). Conflicting reports of establishment in the wild reported (Ref. 13364).
