| Comments: | A shipment of 3,600,000 eyed Wakasagi eggs was introduced in 1959 (Ref. 13364) by the California Department of Fish and Game as a forage fish for rainbow trout (Ref. 6029). H. nipponensis is known to be hybridizing with H. transpacificus in the Sacramento-San Joaquin estuary, thus jeopardizing the genetic integrity of the native species (Ref. 13364).
