Definition of Term

OSMOSE
(English) Two-dimensional, multi-species, individual-based modeling platform, which focuses on fish and invertebrate species and their trophic interactions. The main characteristic of OSMOSE is that it assumes opportunistic predation based on spatial co-occurrence and size adequacy between a predator and its prey (i.e., size-based opportunistic predation). OSMOSE simulates the life cycle of (typically 10 to 20) "focal functional groups", and implicitly considers "biotic resources", which only serve as potential food source.
