Fish affected: Characidae: Neon (Paracheirodon innesi).  
Symptoms: Fading of color, white spots and areas on skin, ulcer, frayed fins, collapsed belly, erratic activity, jerky swimming motions, head up and down.   
Treatments: Sporozoa-infections are in most cases incurable. If there is only a small growth in any part of the body, treatment can be effective using Methylene blue (1 gm/100 ml). Ref. 41805.  
Prophylaxis: Quarantine. Removal of infected fish and disinfection. Put a fine mesh screen above bottom.
