Fish affected: Ornamental fish.   
Symptoms: Yellow-white worms visible from anus and loss of weight. The worm can also be recognized from the typical small red worm hanging occationally from the anus. The infected fish exhibits emaciation, lethargic, and can sometimes develop a curved back. Ref. 48502.  
Treatments: Parachlorometaxylenol. Use Levamisol (200mg/100L for 24 hours), Trichlorfon (100-200mg/100L for 24 hours), Fenbendazoi (200mg/100L for 24 hours). If mixed with food, Febendazol: 200mg/100g food; Piperazine: 100mg/100g food; Levamisol: 200mg/100g food; Garlic: 0.1g/100g food. These medicines should be administered for 3 days and be repeated after 2-3 weeks. Ref. 48502.  
Prophylaxis: Avoid live fish food from the wild. The new fish should first be quarantined before joining it with other fish. A fish suspected with nematode should immediately be isolated in a quarantine tank as soon as possible. Ref. 48502.  
Remarks: It is a reddish/brown worm (1-2 cm in size) that is live-bearing. This young worms can easily infect the other fish in the aquarium. The fish gets infected by eating the faeces of other infected fish, that contains the young worms (larvae). Ref. 48502.
