Treatments: | Praziquantel (5-10 mg/L for 24 days) can kill the parasite but will not remove the worm. | |
Prophylaxis: | Control of snails and birds in and around the pond. | |
Remarks: | The larvae can be removed by a tweezer and/or a needle. The infection will not kill the host fish, but in large numbers it can damage and weaken the fish resulting in death. | |
