Remarks: | Infection commonly occurs in the musculature. This species of nematode causes human gnathostomosis, which is common in the lower Papaloapan River basin where inhabitants eat raw fish flesh. Besides 1991 (Almeyda-Artigas), the infestation were also recorded in 1992 and 1993 (Almeyda et al.), 1994 (Almeyda and Mosqueda), and 1996 (Perez-Ponce de León et al.). |
