Comments: Found off the west coast of Vancouver Island, sometimes entering the Strait of Georgia; seen occasionally in or off Quatsino Sound and the central part of the coast (Ref. 6885). Occurs in Queen Charlotte Sound, Hecate Strait and Dixon Entrance after re-appearance in 1992 (Ref. 95119). Prior to the 1940's, the migration of large and old individuals into British Columbia waters supported a commercial fishery. Also Ref. 188, 4925, 11484, 95119.
