Known from the Black Sea, Sea of Marmara, Aegean Sea and its watersheds, Mediterranean Sea, European Black Sea watersheds, European Mediterranean Sea watersheds, Anatolian Mediterranean Sea watersheds, Western Anatolian lake watersheds, Anatolian Black Sea watersheds and Asi Nehri/Orontes watershed (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 106151. Translocated to Lake Iznik in 1987 as a result of fishermen's introduction (Ref. 57855); also recorded from Hirfanli Dam Lake, Beysehir Lake and Mogan Lake in 2005 (Ref. 57271), and Sapanca (Ref. 59043). Found in central coast of Black Sea (Sinop and Samsun vicinity) (Ref. 88083). Threatened by habitat loss and eutrophication/pollution (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 5980, 57855.
