Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 0; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 13 - 21; Afterflossenstacheln: 0; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 14 - 18. Belly strongly keeled. Separated from similar fishes in the area by the characters given under E. thoracata, from which it differs by its more slender body and narrow silver stripe along the flank (about half eye diameter).
Presumably a marine and coastal pelagic species.
