Geography and Climate Midway Islands is located in Oceania, atoll in the North Pacific Ocean, about one-third of the way from Honolulu to Tokyo. Area comparatively about nine times the size of The Mall in Washington, DC. Midway Islands has a tropical climate, but moderated by prevailing easterly winds. Terrain consists of low, nearly level. Elevation extreme has the lowest point in Pacific Ocean 0 m and highest point (unnamed location) at 4 m. Major natural resources are fish and wildlife. Geography—note: a coral atoll; closed to the public.
