Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 11; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 9; Afterflossenstacheln 3; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 9. Juveniles and females nearly uniformly orange-red. Males develop elongate pelvic fins and have brilliant blue bands on dorsal and anal fins.
