Etymology: Adelotremus: Name from Greek 'adelos' meaning concealed and 'trema' for hole, referring to the discovery of this fish hiding in a calcareous polychaete tube.;  deloachi: Named for Ned DeLoach, in recognition and appreciation of his books, magazine articles and photographs that celebrate the beauty and diversity of reef fishes..

Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 10; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 19; Taggstrålar i analfenan 2; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 19; Ryggkotor: 35. This species is distinguished from A. leptus by the following characters: D X (vs. IX); vertebrae 12 + 23 (vs. 13 + 19); mid-dorsal supratemporal pores 2 (vs. 1); males with a conspicuous blue ocellus between dorsal-fin spines, absent in females (Ref. 117352).

Occurs on sandy bottom; sticks halfway out of holes and when spooked, disappears down into its hole (Ref. 117352). Caught by hand net or clove oil (Ref. 117352).
