Etymology: Cynolebias: Greek, kyon = dog + Greek, odous = teeth + Greek, lebias = a kind of small fish (Ref. 45335); parietalis: From the Latin adjective 'parietalis' (relative to wall), in reference to the morphology of the parietal neuromast series, which is united to the posterior portion of the supraorbital series, a diagnostic characteristic for this species..

Kurzbeschreibung
Morphologie | Morphometrie
Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 19; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 19 - 22; Wirbelzahl: 35 - 37. Cynolebias parietalis can be diagnosed from all species of C. perforatus group by having united supraorbital and parietal series of neuromasts (vs. separate) and basihyal width about 70-75% of basihyal length (vs. about 50-65%). It further differs from all members of the C. perforatus group, with the exception of C. perforatus, by having 33-35 rays on caudal fin (vs. 28-32) (Ref. 97357).
Inhabits temporary pools in the floodplains (Ref. 97357).
