Etymology: Eviota: No etymology given, suggested by Christopher Scharpt: from Latin 'eu' for 'true' and 'iota' for anything very small, in combination 'truly very small' referring to it as being the smallest vertebrate at the time it has benn described by Jenkins (thus, making the suggestion by Scharpt plausible..

Short description Morfología | Morfometría

This species lacks preopercular canal and associated pores of cephalic sensory systems as with Eviota lacrimae and E. sparsa, but differs from these two in having moderately developed fifth pelvic-fin ray (10.5-18.1% of preceding ray in length) and a distinct semi-ocellated spot at the anteroventral part of first dorsal fin (Ref. 81713).
