Etymology: Copadichromis: Greek, kopas, -ados = carved + Chromis, see; parvus: Named from the Latin parvus (small; adjective) to indicate the small size of this species when compared to other species of Copadichromis (Ref. 57549).

الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع): 15 - 17; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع): 10-12; شوكة شرجية 3; أشعه شرجية لينه: 8 - 9. Diagnosis: 3 lateral spots on body; supra-pectoral spot about the same size as supra-anal spot; 2 vertical bars between supra-pectoral spot and opercle; no black submarginal band in dorsal fin; males in breeding coloration with black anal fin lacking colored marginal band and white to blue colored blaze on head (Ref. 57549).
Territorial males are found at depths of 11-23 m and build bowers by excavating sand from beneath rocks; females and non-territorial males feed in the open water column 1-3 m above the bottom and on benthic invertebrates; mouth-brooding females occur solitarily and stay close to the substrate (Ref. 57549).
