Épines dorsales (Total): 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 12-13; Épines anales 0; Rayons mous anaux: 11. Characterized by having: terminal mouth position; thin white lateral stripe from eye to caudal peduncle and thin white bar on snout; naked and elongate body, laterally compressed; absence of rostral frenum; rounded tongue; dorsal fin without elongated anterior spines; caudal fin rounded; complete ventral fin cup (Ref. 50538).
The only shallow-water sponge-dwelling Elacatinus found in the Gulf of Honduras (Ref. 50538).
