背棘 (總數): 7; 背的軟條 (總數): 9; 臀棘 1; 臀鰭軟條: 10. First dorsal fin of males elongated. Ctenoid scales loosely arranged on anterior part of the body; naked on head, full nape to around first dorsal fin base, pectoral fin base, and entire belly. Coloration specific in male, body with a large transverse blotch of grayish violet in the middle; creamy yellow anteriorly, and shiny red orange posteriorly (Ref. 44834).
