Africa: upper and middle Gambia, also in the Bafing River, an affluent of the Senegal River in Guinea (Ref. 2801, 2940, 81282). Also recorded from the Corubal River (Ref. 13331).

পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 0; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 11; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 8. Diagnosis: last simple dorsal-fin ray smooth on hind margin; scale formula 3.5/24-26/4.5; 2.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin base; 11-12 scales around caudal peduncle; 8 branched dorsal fin rays; two pairs of rather long barbels; anterior barbel not extending beyond centre of eye; posterior barbel extending beyond hind margin of eye; lateral line complete and more or less horizontal; maximum reported size 47 mm SL; no black spot on dorsal fin; more or less distinct dark band along middle of sides (Ref. 2940, 81282).

Affinities: B. macinensis; B. punctitaeniatus (Ref. 2940). Maximum TL recorded is 6.0 cm (Ref. 2801).
