পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 7; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 16-17; পায়ূ কাঁটা 1; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 16 - 18. Body reddish brown with patches on the cheeks and a black spot at the base of the tail. SL to 38 mm.

Occurs among mangroves (Ref. 1602). Also forms aggregations near surface of marine lakes and tidal streams (Ref. 90102).
