Western Indian Ocean: Apparently restricted to the western coast of India from Cochin north at least to the Malabar area. Records from Sri Lanka may be a different species.

Prefers muddy bottoms (Ref. 68964). Caught by handlines and bottom trawls. Sold mostly fresh in markets.
