| Also introduced for ornamental purposes (Ref. 48787). Established in urban creeks of Brisbane, Ipswich and Gladstone, Queensland. Its presence in large numbers seem to depress endemic fish populations (Ref. 12257). Recorded from Clohesy River, Barron River Catchment, Queensland, Australia. They have got into a number of waterways including small streams in Brisbane and in the Clohesy River. They seem to prefer anabranches (zero flow) in the Clohesy River rather than being in the flowing river, maybe due to competitive pressures and predation by species such as H. fuliginosus and L. unicolour.
