Comentarios Reintroduced in 1909. Since 1906, the first introduction of Rainbow trout in India, efforts are being made continuously to import different strains of this species so as to promote coldwater aquaculture in Indian sub continent, but so far there is no breakthrough. On the other hand the introduction of this species has considerably affected the population of Mahseer and Schizellierese fishery in the higher reaches of hill states This is the first species to be established in many streams in Nilgiris but have presently declined due to submergence of many trout streams through reservoir constructions and increasing pollution of the remaining streams.     Ref:  Shetty, H.P.C., M.C. Nandeesha and A.G. Jhingran, 1989
