Definition of Term

axil
(English) The acute angular region between a fin and the body; usually used in reference to the underside of the pectoral fin toward the base; equivalent to the armpit in humans. The angle formed by the inner edge of a fin and the body at the point of attachment. (See also: pectoral fins, acute)
axile
(French) La région angulaire aiguë entre une nageoire et le corps; habituellement utilisé pour dénomé le dessous de la nageoire pectorale vers la base; équivalent à l'aisselle chez les êtres humains.
