Family:  Salmonidae (Salmonids), subfamily: Thymallinae
Max. size:  38.2 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,200.0 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Nizhnyaya Angara River and entire Lake Baikal; Selenga and other tributaries of Baikal.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Stays mainly in shallow water with stony bottoms. Feeds on larval caddis flies and stone flies, Amphipoda, eggs of sculpin (Cottus) and lenok (Ref. 593).
IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated (N.E.) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in River Nizhnaya Angara and in the entire Lake Baikal, mainly its southern part; Selenga and other tributaries of Baikal (Ref. 593). This has been translocated to areas within the country for stocking in open waters however, it failed to establish self sustaining populations (Ref. 45022). Also Ref. 26334. nEurRus
