Environment:  pelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon, Orinoco, and Paraná River basins (Paraná, Paraguay and Uruguay rivers) and rivers of Guyana.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Apparently carnivorous, probably ichthyophagous. Maximum length reported to reach 64 cm SL (Ref. 26147).
