Family:  Gobionidae (Gudgeons)
Max. size:  9.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Laos, Viet Nam and Hainan, China.
Diagnosis:  Both lips papillated, lower lip with a median lobe, itself divided longitudinally; 6 branched anal rays; last simple dorsal ray not ossified, soft and segmented; a row of irregular dark blotches along side (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Adults inhabit streams and rivers with moderate to swift current, over gravel to stone substrate (Ref. 43281).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the Pearl River basin and Hainan Island. Also found in the Zhujiang River [= Xi Jiang River] (Ref. 26563). Known from Hainan Province: ( Jinjiang, Ledong, Wuzhishan, Qiongzhong, Changjiang, and Chengpo); Guangdong Province: ( Lianshan, Wengyuan, Xinfeng, Zhaoguan); and Buobai, Yulin of Guangxi Province(Ref.33792).
