Max. size:  3.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 2 m,
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, mouth of Corantijn River in Surinam, and mouths of Cayenne and the Mahury rivers in French Guiana.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 12-12. Eyes not reduced. In both sexes, the large jaw reaching posteriorly from one-half the diameter of the orbit to the end margin of the orbit. Upper part of the sides of the trunk with shoulder patch of melanophores and diagonal bars forming a V pattern. Ocelli on body and head absent. Tail elongated.
