Family:  Ariidae (Sea catfishes), subfamily: Ariinae
Max. size:  30 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish, potamodromous
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Sundaland and Indochina (Ref. 7050). Known from lowland rivers from Thailand to Indonesia and ascends the Mekong as far as Khoné Falls (Ref. 12693).
Diagnosis:  Head about as deep as wide; rounded snout; without teeth on palate (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Occurs in large lowland rivers. Diets consists of bivalve mollusks, crustaceans, aquatic macrophytes and plant detritus. Marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 April 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  traumatogenic
