Country info:  Found in the northeast of Yunnan Province and the southwest of Sichuan Province (Ref. 26563). Also known from the Jinshajiang River, upper Yangtze River (=Changjiang River) (Ref. 26693). Type localities: of Hemiculter liui, Tahochang, Sichang; of Anabarilius liui chenghaiensis, Chenghai Lake, Jinsha river system, nw. Yunnan; of Anabarilius liui yalongensis, Yalong River basin, Xichang County, flowing into Jinsha River, upper reaches of Yangtse River; of Anabarilius liui yiliangensis, Nanpan River, Yiliang County, Yunnan (Ref. 120639).
